Farmers’ Market to Open
The Mentor Farmers’ Market is planning to open on Saturday, May 23, outdoors in the east Mentor School yard with hours from 8 to noon. It seems we have been enjoying an early spring and we are excited to announce the opening day at the market. The vendors are looking forward to the season and will provide local foods and goods every Saturday from 8 am to 12 noon from the Memorial weekend through September. Several vendors have high tunnels allowing early produce production. Lettuce, cucumbers, radishes and asparagus may be available as early as Memorial weekend.
Throughout the summer, the market will provide a good variety of fresh produce, breads, lefse, jams, salsa, honey, donuts, baked goods, bagels, jewelry, American Girl doll clothing, weaving, live plants, night crawlers, local print t-shirts, area souvenirs, homemade beauty products, lotions and much more. We are pleased to announce Erickson’s Smokehouse of Fertile will be there again this year with the food truck to provide hot morning breakfast items, along with ready-to-heart, fully cooked ribs, brisket, beans and other side salads.
The market members are very excited as the market continues to grow and fill the needs of their customers. Many exciting events are being planned to happen concurrently with the morning market. Several of the area car and tractor restorers will be displaying a favorite restored car or tractor of theirs right in the middle of the market space on various market days. There will also be live music events most days, some cooking events, hula hoops for kiddy (and adult) fun, and some surprises. Check the activities page for weekly updates and news.
